Brixton Police Station comprises a facility built in stages between the 1950’s to the 1980’s which has received complete refurbishment of the existing facilities, with the addition of a new 40 cell Custody Centre extension and basement level car park.
The existing building consists of plant areas, reception and interview rooms, locker rooms, control rooms, offices, forensic facilities, meeting rooms, canteen, server rooms and general staff facilities.
The new Custody Centre interview rooms, Charge Room and associated facilities are located within a ground floor wing of the existing building, with the new Cell Block and associated plant areas within the new extension. The car park area is sited beneath the Cell Block.
Anderson Green were responsible for the detailed design and co-ordination of the Mechanical and Electrical services and producing a thermal model for Part L compliance with renewable technologies and local planning conditions.

The project presented a challenge particularly in respect to co-ordination of new services within the existing building. This was overcome by Anderson Green utilising their experience in the latest 3D CAD software in combination with detailed site surveys, and working in conjunction with the Project Team to produce 3D virtual environment co-ordinated layouts to which the site level operatives could reliably install services.
This close collaboration within the virtual environment ensured that all services were designed and co-ordinated in detail prior to fabrication, eliminating clashes and protecting site programme through quality delivery.
