Synopsis
Gladstone Primary School combines a new build 2-storey primary school linked to an existing refurbished community centre and veranda building to create one building which functions as both a primary school and a community centre, able to accommodate various functions as well as sporting activities for the local area.
Anderson Green carried out both the concept design of the new build section, and the survey and evaluation of the existing building. This enabled a concept report to be produced which detailed the proposed M&E services for the new build, and made recommendations on improvements to be made to the existing buildings.
This information includes concept 3D services to highlight any potential clashes early in the design process.
The building includes PV and also benefits from a BB101 compliant natural ventilation solution.
Best in Class
The design philosophy for this project was thought out so that the systems are low energy and incur low running / operational and maintenance costs and are flexible in operation to meet with the dynamic and diverse occupancy profiles.
The design principles of the project have set targets on reducing typical energy demands to achieve an improvement on carbon reduction. One way in which this is achieved is by way of passive & low energy design supplemented through the integration of renewable technologies such as photo voltaic panels.
