Synopsis

A new £100m parcel hub for Geo Post UK at Hinckley Commercial Park in the East Midlands on a 33 acre site close to J1 of the M69. The facility will be fully operational by 2015, creating up to 1,000 permanent full-time jobs.

The project is split into 4 main areas as follows:

• Main Hub Building (including Depot Building).

• Security Building

• Vehicle Maintenance Building.

• Other External Areas and Buildings

A 10KWp Photovoltaic Array has been installed on the roof of the Hub Building to meet the Carbon Reduction requirements needed for the project and to provide energy savings as well as achieving compliance with Part L2A.

Due to the nature of the business and the need for the client to maintain operations within the building the entire site is supported by 2No 1.9MVA Standby Generator Sets which will allow the business to operate in the event of a power outage.

Due to the large amount of vehicle movement required around the main building the external lighting has been designed to provide the minimum levels of light required to allow safe movement around the site whilst not exceeding unwanted light pollution and nuisance lighting to the planned new housing immediately adjacent to the site.

The Main Hub building incorporated a pre-fabricated packaged plantroom located externally on platform providing all the LTHW heating , domestic water and ventilation to the 2nd floor offices.

The heat pumps throughout were provided by high efficient heat recovery VRV systems.

Supply and extract ventilation is provided by a number of central air handling units with thermal heat recovery providing a minimum 50% efficiency.
