Anderson Green Role:
- BREEAM Assessor
The 20,000m² production facility is purpose built for the casting of advanced turbine blades for Rolls-Royce’s aero engines, which includes Wax, Shell, Heat Treatment, Etch, Finishes and Support Offices.
The facility will manufacture two types of turbine blade: high pressure (HP) and intermediate pressure (IP) single crystal blades, and will feature in a wide range of large civil aero engines including the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB, which powers the new Airbus A350 XWB.
Anderson Green was responsible for the BREEAM Assessment of the project, providing advice on the sustainability aspects of the design, construction and occupant use to ensure the defined performance targets were achieved.
Best in Class
The building achieved a final BREEAM score of 63.4%, a ‘Very Good’ rating, through the use of sustainable materials, low water use sanitary ware and efficient management practices throughout the design, construction, commissioning, handover and aftercare activities.
The development achieved an EPC ‘B’ rating, by utilising waste heat from factory processes, through the use of an absorption chiller to achieve a sufficient reduction in CO² emissions.
